Pompeo Pianezzola, “Work”, 1952

This decorative panel made of glazed refractory was modeled and decorated by Pompeo Pianezzola in 1952, and placed on the southern-facing wall of the first branch of the former Banca Popolare di Marostica (Marostica People’s Bank). It was detached and replaced in the same spot on the new building in 2000.
The various boxes that comprise it reference semi-industrial ceramics manufacturing alongside agricultural production, familial care next to a representation of Fortune with a cornucopia, and a pottery wheeler next to an agricultural laborer, closing off on the bottom with a bee on a honeycomb, a traditional symbol of wealth.
Born in Nove in 1925, Pianezzola began his activity as an apprentice in the Antonibon-Barettoni factory and studied in the G. De Fabris Institute, where he also taught between 1945 and 1977, and became director between 1963 and 1968. He obtained his diploma in Painting at the Academy of Venice. He died in Marostica in 2012.
