Giuseppe Lucietti, Large wall panel, 1992

This large panel is made up of single fired refractory tiles and metal salt, and was modeled and decorated by Giuseppe Lucietti and placed on the southeastern façade of the historic “Cafè Roma,” on the corner of Via Molini and Via Rizzi, in 1992.

The decoration evokes and reinterprets the vigorous and intrusive ivy plant that once extended itself over the façade of the building, before its restoration. Born in Nove in 1936, Lucietti learned the art of ceramics from his relatives. He completed his studies at the Art Institute of Nove, as a student of Andrea Parini, and attended the Academy of Arts in Venice. In the 1950’s, he stayed multiple times in Faenza, where he collaborated with Nanni Valentini in Carlo Zauli’s workshop.

In 1984, he was awarded the Faenza Prize at the 42nd International Artistic Ceramics Contest.
