Historic Antonibon Factory, Barettoni since 1907

Having been active since 1727, this is the oldest factory in Italy with uninterrupted activity. The complex brings together the productive section, the printing works with its original copies from the 1700’s, the firewood shacks, a large 1800’s circular kiln with four feed inlets, and the manor house, which was already inhabited in the 1500’s, and is now used as an exhibition space.

In 1732, the Antonibon family obtained from the Senate of the Most Serene Republic of Venice special privileges, tax exemptions and the right to open a shop in Venice, becoming the most important factory in the Venetian Republic, not only for the production of majolica but also of porcelain (since 1762) and earthenware (since 1786). In 1907, it was purchased by Lodovico Barettoni, whose family owns it even now and carries on its operation.
